Campaigning for change

Close Screens Open Minds is a call to collective action for parents, educators, and policymakers to rethink the dominance of screentime in the classroom and for homework. By joining together, we can advocate for healthier, more balanced educational environments that put children’s mental health and real learning first.

Elastic shaped the brand, creating the name and visual identity to reflect their powerful message. The more we learn about the devastating effects of EdTech on young people’s health, wellbeing, privacy and learning, the more motivated we are to support the movement.

Close Screens Open Minds first live event with Sophie Winkleman, Jonathan Haidt and Hugh Grant
"Lauren and her team at Elastic are dynamic, creative and easy to work with - I highly recommend them if you're looking for fantastic design, support, ideas and brand building."

For Close Screens Open Minds

We recently assisted the Close Screens Open Minds team with their first live event for parents and school leaders, which took place at a school in central London. The event featured a conversation with Jonathan Haidt, social psychologist and bestselling author of “The Anxious Generation,” and included introductions by Sophie Winkleman and a Q&A hosted by Hugh Grant.

The passionate speakers and the data paint a very clear and alarming picture. If you are a parent of school aged children we urge you to watch the recordings we made on the day and read Jonathan’s elightening book. We will be helping Close Screens Open Minds to share these recordings and much more on social channels to amplify their message and give parents the facts they need to take action.

‘We were sold a dream that technology would revolutionise education, personalise learning and prepare kids for a digital future. Billions of dollars and pounds later and where are we? Test scores are plummeting globally and the increased screen use is damaging children’s health.’
