Edinburgh Business School is one of the world’s largest providers of distance-learning MBAs. They offer internationally recognised courses translated into 5 languages.
In 2013, EBS approached Elastic with a prototype for an educational video series that they wanted to produce for their students. At Elastic we proposed a simple and adaptable animation style, that would allow for videos to be created quickly, while allowing for flexibility so they could suit any subject matter and to allow for easy translation into various languages.
‘Visualise This’ condenses key learning points from the universities’ MBA courses such as Economics, Marketing, Accounting and Organisational Behaviour and translates these into short 4-10 minute animated videos.
Working closely with e-learning specialists Eight Interactive and university faculty heads over 40 videos have been produced to date. These videos are key around exam times and reach a viewing peak as they allow students to quickly refresh their knowledge on a particular subject.
Some stats we have helped to achieve:
• 24,000 video views in 1st year from Economics and Organisational Behaviour students.
• 50% of total plays emanated from Africa, Caribbean and Arab world
• 91% of students surveyed said the videos were “useful” or “very useful”
• 91% agreed the visuals were clear and helpful to their e-learning
